Uwe Haag, PhD, Manageing Director
Dr. Uwe Haag is the founder and Managing Director of HaaPACS. Besides managing the company, he also serves as a consultant covering all working areas of HaaPACS.
Background and Experience
Dr. Haag holds a Master degree in Medical Computer Science and a PhD (Dr. sc. hum.) in Medical Biostatistics, working for more than 20 years in clinical research and development.
Starting his career as a research- and teaching-oriented scientist at Heidelberg University, he received several scientific appreciations and awards, the most renowned being the Johann-Peter-Süßmilch medal of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry, and Epidemiology
In 1997 he decided to move into the pharmaceutical industry. Since then he has been appointed department head and global head for major pharmaceutical companies in a broad range of functions in Biostatistics, Clinical Data Management, and R&D IT.
In these roles, he supervised major global clinical development programs, including Japan, and was involved in numerous publications and study reports.
Further, he gained extensive experiences as a leader of key strategic and operational initiatives. Among these are several re-engineering and re-organization projects, standardization activities, and R&D IT implementation and validation projects.
In 2004 he started his own business and founded HaaPACS, with a view to providing process consultancy and statistical services to the industry.
Dr. Haag’s track record covers frequent audits in Biostatistics, Data Management and Computerised System Validation. His approach to quality is not only to monitor processes but to develop best practices that drive greater efficiency and better compliance.
Dr. Haag often switched between IT-oriented and biostatistical roles, typically both of them combined. Collaboration with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds has become part of his daily business as well as cross-functioning with research professionals in clinical, pharmacovigilance, laboratory, or regulatory.
